Holy crap, encore performance! Templar, Arizona: The Mob Goes Wild is going to print, everybody. And that means The pre-order project for book two has begun! With a bigger book and snazzier printing, the goal is a lot higher than it was for book one, but I still think it's do-able. Help get the book to print by pre-ordering! And hey, order the fancy dee-luxe package, and get a cool shirt and some original art in the bargain! God knows it's not doing my any good lyin' around here. Also up for grabs are special misprint editions of book one, The Great Outdoors. Five bucks buys you a perfectly serviceable 112-page comic! Get 'em while ya can! Click here to see what's on offer! aaker posting in webcomics: Comixpedia author list and comic list

Hi all. A while ago I put a page about my comic on Comixpedia, as well as a page about myself. When I put them up, I made sure they were on the list of comics and list of comic creators. Then I didn't visit Comixpedia for a while, but just now I went back and noticed that the links to my pages are no longer on those lists. I don't know when they disappeared, or why. You can still get to the pages by direct address or with the search function; you just can't get there from the lists. I don't know a whole lot about Comixpedia, so maybe there's someone here who can tell me what went wrong. Is there some problem with my pages that caused the links to them to be deliberately removed from the lists? Or did Comixpedia revamp the site and somehow lose those links? How can I put them back? Thanks Erika Tue, May. 6th, 2008, 04:28 pm
nlduchno posting in webcomics: Webcomic Promotion Guide
Hello, I've been around a couple of communities and have run into various posts, links, interviews, and blog entries about how to promote a webcomic. I decided to make a website to put all of these ideas in one place. This is the result: http://www.webcomicpromotion.comI would appreciate any feedback anybody has. I'm especially interested in the following areas: Writing Style - Is the writing clear, easy to understand, and grammatically correct. I haven't written anything in a while, so I'm a bit worried about this (I was a math major). Site Design - Is the layout good? Is it easy to navigate? Are the pages too cluttered? Are the colors ok? Content - is the content useful? Do you have any additional information/links that you think I should include? Thanks for your help guys. I hope the site is useful. P.S. If you like the site, feel free to "Like" it on StumbleUpon, or bookmark it with whatever social bookmarking service you use. Thanks. Tue, May. 6th, 2008, 04:41 pm
vonandmoggy posting in webcomics: The Art of Von Allan at Ottawa's La Dolce Vita

Hey there, I'm an Ottawa-based cartoonist and graphic novelist with an upcoming art show at La Dolce Vita beginning on May 19th. The show will feature a lot of my art as well as pages samples from the graphic novel that I've recently completed. I should add that the story is currently being serialized as a webcomic on GirlAMatic.com (a very cool non-misogynist collective). La Dolce Vita is a really nifty restaurant in the heart of Ottawa's Little Italy. And, best of all, it features a gluten-free menu on top of gluten-based foods. So if you or someone you know has a gluten alergy or Celiac's disease, it's a great place to go and eat. The event poster, designed by Chris Tompkins, is below. My wife and I will definitely be there on the evening of May 19th (yay for openings) and then periodically off and on over the next two weeks 'til the show wraps up. Oh, I created a Facebook group for the art show, too. Yes, geeky, I know. ( Youtube interview after the Cut! )

theljstaff posting in news: Advisory Board Nominations Open
Advisory Board Nominations BeginThis morning we are opening the nomination process for the user-representative positions on the LiveJournal Advisory Board. A full description of the process can be found here. To get you started, here are the basic things you should know: - You may only nominate yourself - Each nominee will need 100 motions of support in order to be eligible to be a candidate - We ask that you keep your comments on the nomination posts to "I support this nomination" or something to that effect; be kind to those who will need to count the "supports", please. - Although the nominations and election poll will take place in lj_election_en, you do not need to watch the community in order to keep up with the election; we'll announce everything here as well. Everyone here at LiveJournal is looking forward to this first-ever User-Representative election! We'd like to thank everyone who is participating. Some words from our current Advisory Board members: danah boyd: “LiveJournal is filled with very passionate users. These users have helped shaped LJ's various communities over the last decade and it gives me great joy that LJ is recognizing and incorporating users' voices into the decision-making processes. Having user representatives from different parts of LJ on the Advisory Board will help make sure that the company is meeting the needs of its diverse constituents.” Esther Dyson: "I'm sure we'll learn a lot from the process, and later on from the two users selected as well. Especially, I hope that the discussions before the voting will be more meaningful and more focused on policy than those in some offline campaigns." Brad Fitzpatrick: "It's cool that SUP is getting users involved with the LiveJournal decision-making process. I look forward to seeing who the community elects and the results of our efforts working together." Professor Lawrence Lessig: “The user elections will provide a critical check on LJ's process of maintaining a valuable and trustworthy environment for the LJ community. The mandate of the elections will give the user representatives pride of place among the members of the Advisory Board. Each of us will look to them to guide us in our judgment about how best to make LJ the community we all aspire that it will be. I look forward to welcoming the user representatives, and learning a great deal from them.” chasethestars has also made some banners for you to use, if you'd like to show your support for the candidate of your choice! ( Banners + code for you to use! )

I'm finding myself concerned over Scott Kurtz and his post of May 10th: http://www.pvponline.com/2008/05/04/ten/Does anyone know what's up with this? I'd ask him directly but I guess he's receiving a zillion thousand emails by now. Hopefully he's only metaphorically speaking? :( Fri, May. 2nd, 2008, 07:56 pm

jenndolari posting in webcomics:

For those of you interested, my other comic, A Wish for Wings, is currently going into "reruns" starting with Episode #1 today (the popular comic being the transgender comic " Closetspace"). It'll rerun EVERYDAY for 219 days. So if you'd like to see some of my other work, but have been kinda shy about starting a story 200 comics in, now is your chance to see it from Day One, and see an episode EVERYDAY. And for everyone who's already read the comics, thanks for reading! Fri, Apr. 25th, 2008, 04:27 pm
